Do teachers assign homework to their students? |
Homework is essential for students to master what they have learned during the school day. IIS therefore places high importance on the students' daily homework assignments. Each student is expected to complete homework assignments and hand them in on the specified deadlines. Consistent failure to submit homework will result in slowed learning and in extreme cases may result in the student being held back a year. |
Dedicated staff/programs for students with special learning needs |
The school is honoured to be one out of only two international schools to offer a special needs or support approach. This approach is also known as S.T.A.R.S., which stands for "Specialized Teaching And Responsive Students" and so aptly reflects our teaching philosophy. Children in the S.T.A.R.S. approach are integrated into every day life and enjoy interactions with mainstream students during assemblies, school events/outings and school projects. |
Learning support offered |
At IIS, Special Needs Educators assess each student not only according to chronological age but also developmental ability. The advantage of the S.T.A.R.S. approach is that students, if necessary, can start at a lower grade to ensure a smooth adjustment. |
