Our two daughters attended Elckerlyc International School for one year during our sabbatical in Leiden, for the 2025-2026 academic year. We had the chance to be part of Groups 1 and 2 and Groups 5 and 6 for our daughters, and we also volunteered with the Library Support Group every two to three Wednesdays. Our overall time within each Group, parent-led voluntary groups, group visits, and events throughout the year was full of new experiences and wonderful memories. First of all, the language education was excellent, with highly experienced and professional teachers; other courses were also handled professionally, with specific care tailored to each age group. Our younger one did not speak English at all when we started, and bloomed into a flower with 100% English proficiency by the beginning of our second term. They also excelled in other subjects, and we especially enjoyed the multicultural and art-related teachings at our school. There was also special attention to parent-teacher-student-involved community building through various means. It was always easy to approach our experienced director, our brilliant teachers, and other support staff. It was hard to say goodbye. Thanks to the welcoming, warm environment within the Elckerlyc community, we, as a family, had an excellent experience in learning, language acquisition, social skills, and multiculturalism.

Both our children attended Elckerlyc for their whole primary school time. They were seen, valued, supported and encouraged. The staff is knowledgeable and very involved with the children, both academically and personally - as a parent, I always had the feeling that the school embraced my children and really cared about their wellbeing and development.
There are many moments for parents to be involved, both in assisting outings and activities and as a volunteer, and the communication with the school is always easy.
We feel Elckerlyc has given our children a solid base to grow, and look back on their years there as a very positive time for us all

Elckerlyc is an innovative and growth mindset school in Leiderdorp. It has been operational for over 30 years and is a very trusted brand based on its own merits. The teaching staff is flexible and works along with the parents for varied needs of the children. The atmosphere in the school feels like extended family. We are grateful for their support and commitment to providing a healthy environment for our children to grow.

Both our children went to Elckerlyc. We have been very happy with the school: the academic environment is very stimulating (our eldest is now in secondary school and thriving) and the children are well cared for. When our daughter experienced peer pressure and light bullying, the school acted quickly and efficiently in recognizing the situation and supporting her.
The staff is very efficient and available - anytime I have had questions or needed help I always received the attention and support I needed.

The school is very outdated and rigid in all aspects. If you align with their set box assessment, you can be happy, else it is mentally and emotionally exhausting each day for parents and especially students. Views of parents not at all respected. Children not per their terms are cornered, isolated, forced to repeat years. Strongly suggest not to opt this school. They will also make it really difficult to move schools, as they have good connects with other schools around. Personally know many victims of this.
