Year 13 students at Oxford International College (OIC) are reaching an important stage in their university preparation, with the first UCAS application of the 2026–27 academic year now submitted.

Based in Oxford, UK, Oxford International College supports ambitious students preparing for admission to leading universities in the UK and internationally. The College’s Global Strategic Pathways team, who advise on university admissions & careers, work closely with students throughout Year 13, providing individual guidance as they develop and submit their university applications.

Many of OIC’s early UCAS applicants are now finalising applications for Oxford and Cambridge, Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary Science, alongside students targeting other highly competitive university courses.

Among the first students to submit this year is Ken, an aspiring engineer with a particular interest in Robotics, Mechatronics and Electronic & Electrical Engineering.

Ken’s interest in robotics extends well beyond his A Level studies. He has previously represented Thailand in an international robotics competition and spends time coaching younger students, sharing the knowledge and experience he has developed through years of involvement in the subject.

At Oxford International College, Ken is continuing to explore this interest through the College’s Robotics elective programme. As his team begins designing and developing its own robot, he has been able to contribute his previous competition experience and support other students within the group.

His interest has also extended into independent academic research. Ken completed an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) examining humanoid robots and their potential applications within the hospitality industry, achieving an A* for his research.

Ken’s journey reflects OIC’s approach to university preparation: encouraging students to develop their academic interests beyond the curriculum through independent research, competitions, electives and wider experiences, while receiving specialist guidance as they prepare for university.

With the university application cycle now well underway, OIC's Global Strategic Pathways team will continue working with Year 13 students as they prepare applications, admissions tests and interviews for universities in the UK and around the world.
