The free initiative, open to families from both inside and outside the school, will offer a morning of play, discovery and connection for mothers with babies aged 0 to 12 months.

Finding things to do with a baby during their first few months is not always easy. That is why Newton College is launching ‘Stay & Play’, a new initiative designed to give mothers and babies the chance to enjoy a different kind of morning, surrounded by play, new experiences and other families at a similar stage of their journey.

The first session will take place on Tuesday 27 October at 11.05am in Wonderland at Newton College, and is aimed at mothers with babies aged between 0 and 12 months. The activity is free and open to all families, both from within and outside the school community.

Much more than a morning of play

During their first year, babies begin to discover the world through their senses, movement and interaction with the people around them. Creating opportunities to explore new environments and experiences can turn a morning of play into an enriching experience for both babies and their mothers.

But ‘Stay & Play’ also places a strong focus on the social side. Spending time with other mothers and babies can help families build new connections, share experiences and feel supported during a stage of life filled with changes and new discoveries.

Shared play also provides an opportunity to strengthen the bond between mother and baby, while allowing little ones to explore their surroundings at their own pace.

A different way to discover Newton College

For families who are not yet familiar with the school, the session also offers an opportunity to visit Newton College, discover its facilities and experience the school’s atmosphere first-hand.

The initiative is open to all interested families, regardless of whether their children are already part of the school community. In this way, ‘Stay & Play’ also offers families the chance to make an initial connection with the school from an early stage.

‘Stay & Play’ is based on the idea that play is also a form of learning. Through a sensory experience designed specifically for the early months of life, babies will be able to touch, observe, listen and discover at their own pace, while their mothers will learn new ways to stimulate and support their development through everyday play. It is an opportunity to enjoy time together, take new ideas home and connect with other families.
