Qualities and characteristics best defining the school |
Creative Primary School is an IB World School, providing the PYP programme. We are also one of the very few IB schools which uses Chinese as the main medium of instruction, while enhancing English learning at an early age. We are the worldwide Fidelity winner of the Inviting School Award Programme, Brain-based Learning Silver Award School, and the Grand Award winner of the Happy School Award Programme in HK.
In our school, academic rigour is balanced with an enriching personal growth programme. School life is happy and vibrant, and learning in our school is highly student-centred, engaging, effective and relevant to students' interests and needs. Underlying all these is our exceptionally caring school ethos that helps and supports students to build their self-confidence and self-respect, while cultivating a sense of purpose and deep passion for life. |
Teaching approach of the school |
Our school integrates the local curriculum into our IB programme organically. Students learn through individual subjects as well as across subject disciplines. As a result, they not only have a strong and rigorous foundation in individual subjects, but also the essence of IB curriculum which stresses inquiry learning, agency, concept, skills, attitudes and action. As IB learners, students experience a broad range of approaches to learning from working independently, in small groups and sometimes in a whole year-group. They often work in teams, studying and making inquiry into special topics, experimenting, solving problems, self-evaluating, producing project reports, preparing presentations and role-playing etc. at the same time, being exposed to intercultural perspectives, values and experiences. Teachers at our school deploy a wide variety of curriculum design and pedagogical strategies they have learnt from the training and practices of IB, Invitational Education, Brained-based learning, and Shengben. They are well trained to guide students to learn effectively with interest and enthusiasm, and to make connections between what they have learnt across different subject areas. |
