International Education in Amman

⇩ Scroll directly to the list of top 10 best schools in Amman ⇩

Amman, the capital city of Jordan, is a modern city with an interesting mix of Western and Arab cultures. It is well-connected to the rest of the Middle East and, as any local will tell you, family life is a big deal. So if you’re considering moving to Jordan as an expat, Amman is an excellent choice. And as it happens, the city has an excellent variety of international schools.

While Jordan’s national education system is excellent and is considered one of the best in the Arab world, it is not the first choice of many expats in Amman. This is because of the language barrier; teaching takes place in Arabic, while international schools in Amman mostly use English as the language of instruction.

If your child speaks Arabic rather than English however, this does not mean an international school in Amman is off-limits; Arabic is offered as an alternative language of instruction in many of the city’s international schools.

Since English is the most popular language of instruction, you can probably guess what is the most common curriculum. It’s pretty much a draw between the IB (International Baccalaureate) and the British curriculum. Both are very well-regarded all around the world, so which one you choose comes down to your own personal preference. French and American curricula are also available.

The majority of expats in Amman have settled in the West of the city, and this is where most of the international schools are located. Dabouq, Umm al Summaq, and the Bassou neighbourhoods are home to several schools each. There are three international schools in the centre of Amman, and several to the South-West of the centre also.

The majority of international schools in Amman teach children from the early years right the way through to 18 years of age. This means once you’ve chosen a school for your child, they will never have to move to another school unless you want them to. Furthermore, some schools also offer early years education (Montessori) for the very young children in your life.

Many of Amman’s international schools have been established for decades and have excellent reputations. That’s not to say the newer schools are any different, however. In fact, whatever school you choose for your child, they will receive a standard of education in Amman that is among the best in the world.

Below, we have compiled the top 10 international schools in Amman according to our users. However, there are another 18 schools to choose from in the city. Al-Saadah College Schools

The Principal’s Speech
Al-Saadah College Schools is one of the educational pillars in our country, which aims to raise the educational level for our students to keep up with and face the challenges of the present that are represented by the great development in the areas of communication and information technology. A school is a mirror that reflects the success or failure of educational systems, as well as the applied executive level of educational plans and the source of realistic educational development.
The administration is an open-minded environment and is characterized by its dynamism that helps it keep pace with environmental changes. It also does its best to balance its requirements with the needs of the society; a society that is home to the school leadership that oversees the schools of the future.
The school of the future ventures toward the unknown; its foundation is based on turning away from the ordinary, having a strong desire for adventure, and revolting against traditional methods. This requires developing the educational environment in our school and building human relations inside and outside the school in order to enable it to achieve effective performance by building a network that facilitates transforming information and by creating a team that achieves the goals desired of the educational institution.
In conclusion, Al-Saadah College Schools is one of the schools that seek to bring about the desired positive change that is consistent with the monotheistic religions and isn’t in conflict with our Arab customs and values; in order to keep pace with the scientific and cultural development, to serve our country and raise the banner of Jordan high, and to serve our Arab nation. Our school translates the hopes of parents, educators and the new generation to be an extension of our culture, the future of our nation, and a stature that raises the banners of human civilization guided by the law of heaven.
