Unfortunately, we feel compelled to share our experience publicly because, despite repeated attempts to contact the school, important concerns were not addressed appropriately.
Our daughter attended Grade 3 and Grade 4 at the German International School Dubai and was a very good student. Due to the ongoing security situation, we no longer felt comfortable sending her back to on-site classes. We repeatedly contacted the school in writing and asked for a safe alternative that would allow her to complete the school year properly.
She participated in distance learning until the very end. When the school decided to return to on-site learning, no suitable solution for Grade 4 was offered from our perspective, even though we clearly explained that our only goal was for our daughter to complete the school year successfully.
What has disappointed us most is how the situation was handled afterwards. Despite providing our new address abroad, our daughter's report card was not sent for an extended period of time. Important questions often went unanswered or were answered only after repeated follow-ups. We have now also been informed that the school will not provide either a promotion decision or even a pedagogical recommendation, despite having known our daughter and her academic performance over the course of two school years.
For a German International School that charges substantial tuition fees, we find this level of organisation, communication and support unacceptable. In an exceptional situation like this, we expected guidance, clear communication and a genuine willingness to help. Instead, we feel that we have been left alone to deal with the serious educational consequences for our daughter.
We are now forced to seek assistance from external authorities to resolve the educational disadvantage our daughter has suffered. This has been an extremely disappointing and distressing experience for our family.
