It can be so hard to find a school that manages to balance a heavy IB curriculum without losing sight of the "human" side of the kids, but we’ve truly found that at Oeiras International School. Our son started there in 2024 and is now in Year 9, it’s been the best decision for him.
One of the things we love most is the atmosphere. The teachers are wonderful; they are genuine people who clearly care about the students' personal development.
As a Flemish-speaking family, we were a bit worried about our son losing his mother tongue. We’ve been so happy with the extra-curricular Dutch program; it’s helped him keep up a good level of both speaking and more important, writing in Dutch. On top of that, he’s picking up Portuguese and even learning Chinese, which is incredible to see.

OIS is in incredible school and we feel lucky as a family to have discovered this GEM. They are a not-for-profit school and it shows... they have 16 students per class and do everything to make sure each student succeeds. They have excellent dedicated teachers, a beautiful unique campus on a farm (it feels a bit Harry Potterish) and a huge social community of parents. I wasn't surprised when the school was top 10 IB schools in Europe and within the top 100 globally.

Great atmosphere. Beautiful campus. Great teachers, caring and supportive staff. My children are very happy there. Many nationalities. Small class sizes yet enough students in each year group to make friends.
