Brief description of entry evaluation required

Decisions are based on a careful examination of each student’s ability to achieve success in an atmosphere of high expectations and within the context of an English language-learning environment. In making this assessment, SIS will evaluate each candidate’s English language proficiency and in some cases math skills, demonstrated academic achievement and developmental and social/behavioral history. This will include an interview. Students in grades 6 to 10 will also write an essay.

Starting in Kindergarten, SIS offers ASAs. ASAs are an essential part of school life and allow children to explore new activities and perhaps even discover their passion. We offer three cycles of ASAs and sign-ups are through an online platform, Schools Buddy. While most ASAs are offered by our teachers and are free or charged at a nominal fee, we bring in experts from the community to round out our ASA offerings. Those ASAs offered by the community are chargeable, and parents pay for their child to attend.

ASAs usually vary from trimester to trimester. The offerings are as varied as yoga to chess, robotics to gardening. Primary ASAs are from 3:10 to 4:15, while secondary ASAs are from 3:35 to 4:30.

SIS offers two after school bus services, one for those leaving directly after school and the other for ASA participants

Shekou International School has comprehensive facilities for Primary and Secondary students across three campuses.
SIS@Jingshan campus is located in the beautiful Jingshan complex surrounded by park like features. The campus brings opportunities for students to connect with nature by giving access to playgrounds, gardens, pools, outdoor kitchens, and water play areas. These areas support the development of student inquiry and encourage learners to make meaning of the world whilst developing their curiosity to acquire new skills, knowledge and confidence.
SIS@The Bay Campus for primary (G1-G5) is our new purpose-built facility that features a theatre, large gym, science and design labs, a two-story library, canteen and kitchen facilities, climbing wall, and sports fields. The additional spaces at the Bay campus have enabled the development of a new Chinese bilingual programme that adds to our already successful French International Programme.
SIS@Net Valley campus is in the centre of Shekou, with an advanced learning environment and many innovative and agile learning spaces. Classroom laboratories are fully equipped for experimentation, and the music, art and design spaces encourage students to engage creatively in the design process. The library supports student research and offers an excellent environment for individual study and small-group collaboration. Throughout the school, Apple technology is utilised in teaching across disciplines and developing students’ digital skill set.
