Our approach to learning nurtures confidence and intellectual curiosity in our students, preparing them for success in further education and life beyond. We offer a holistic education founded on scholarship and complemented by rewarding co-curricular programmes. Our network of schools has partnerships with leading universities and organisations to bring unique learning experiences to our students. The primary teaching language is English, with a Dual Language approach in Mandarin and English in DUCKS. From DUCKS through to Year 9 we follow the National Curriculum of England and Wales, enhanced for international needs. In Year 10 students begin the two-year International GCSE syllabus followed by the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme in Years 12 and 13. |
DUCKS is set in a purpose-built Early Years environment catering to children aged 2 to 7 years old. It comprises Toddler, Nursery, and Reception (collectively known as our Early Years programme) and Year 1 & 2 (Year 2 is the equivalent of Year 1 in local schools).
Early Years in DUCKS is based on the best of Early Years education from around the world within the well-defined expectations of the Early Years Foundation Stage from the U.K.
Child-led learning and play-based exploration underpin the approach where learning is supported through positive interaction with adults whose careful questioning, observations, and reflections inform their daily practice.
Our Junior School encompasses Years 3 - 6 (Year 3 is equivalent to Year 2 in local schools) and caters to children aged 7 to 11. The primary school curriculum follows the standards and expectations within the English National Curriculum and is modified for our international context, making it well-suited for expats. Junior School aims to provide each child with the very best education and support within an environment that is welcoming and safe.
Our curriculum is designed to encourage our primary school students to develop a deep understanding of subjects and gives them the time they need to reflect and consolidate their thinking. We support our students' natural curiosity and strive to stimulate their creativity.
Our Senior School consists of Years 7 - 13 (ages 12 - 18). Students in Year 7 to Year 9 (Middle School) follow the National Curriculum of England modified for our international context. In Year 10 and Year 11 they follow the I/GCSE and then in Year 12 and 13 they follow the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme resulting in the IBDP exams in Year 13.
Our aim in Senior School is to develop confident, thoughtful, outward-looking young people. We deliver a rigorous academic programme whilst recognising that successful students are not defined solely by their attainment in tests and exams. Our programme of study allows students to maintain breadth as well as depth.
The College campus in idyllic Jinqiao is an expression of our educational philosophy. We offer an educational environment designed to nurture the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of our students. The campus is made up of three schools: DUCKS, Junior School and Senior School, in addition to shared school facilities.
Shared facilities at our international school in Dulwich College Shanghai Pudong include a fully refurbished theatre with two drama black boxes, music classrooms, a recording studio and five individual music practice rooms. For sports, the school offers modern facilities such as two gymnasiums, a dance studio, a function room, a 25-metre six lane FINA swimming pool, a training pool, as well as a 14,000 square meter grass lawn.
Dulwich College Shanghai Puxi opened in August 2016. It is a 40,000 square metre, purpose built, state-of-the-art campus set upon green land in South Minhang on the Puxi side of Shanghai. The College has been built to exceptional standards, to ensure that our students are educated safely and inspired by the natural, green environment.
Complementing our light-filled and generously laid out classrooms, are natural garden settings for outdoor play and exploration. All of our students swim weekly in our 50m Olympic sized swimming pool. There is a smaller training pool alongside this for our Toddler and Nursery aged students to build their water confidence. A multitude of sports are played indoors, in our 2000 square meter, fully air-filtered, triple gymnasium and outside, students enjoy team sports on our all-grass football and rugby pitch.
