Hamelin-Laie International School Earns Silver Social Impact Distinction
Hamelin-Laie International School is delighted to announce an important milestone that highlights the commitment of its students, educators, and wider community. The school has been awarded the Silver level in the prestigious Social Impact Distinction, recognising its continued progress within Nord Anglia Education’s global programme.
This initiative, created in collaboration with UNICEF UK*, recognises schools that successfully integrate children’s rights (UNCRC), as well as principles of equality, diversity, inclusion, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), into daily school life. It serves as a strong foundation for developing students as responsible global citizens who are prepared to contribute positively to society.
The Social Impact Distinction is an international accreditation that assesses how effectively schools embed social responsibility into their culture and practices. With three progressive levels: Bronze, Silver, and Gold, the programme evaluates areas such as curriculum design, student participation, community engagement, and inclusive approaches.
Achieving the Silver level reflects Hamelin-Laie’s ongoing commitment to strengthening EDIB principles -Equality, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging- through initiatives that involve students, staff, and families alike. Since earning the Bronze distinction in 2024, the school has further expanded its programmes, deepening awareness of both the Sustainable Development Goals and children’s rights across the community.
As Frances Bestley, Director of Programmes at UNICEF UK, notes, fostering an understanding of children’s rights can transform school environments into spaces where students feel heard and valued, helping them develop a strong sense of belonging and purpose.
Hamelin-Laie’s achievement forms part of a wider commitment across Nord Anglia Education schools worldwide to promote social responsibility and international mindedness. Schools within the network are progressing through the Distinction levels, with many aiming to reach Gold.
Dr Leslie Williams, Group Head for Social Impact and EDIB at Nord Anglia Education, highlights that these accreditations not only help measure impact but also encourage collaboration and engagement across school communities. Ultimately, the goal is to create meaningful cultural change that extends beyond the classroom and into the wider world.
At Hamelin-Laie, the Social Impact Distinction represents far more than recognition, it reflects a daily focus on instilling values such as respect, empathy, and responsibility in every student.
As the school celebrates this accomplishment, it remains committed to continuous growth, working in partnership with families to empower students to become thoughtful and proactive change-makers.
Families are warmly invited to discover Hamelin-Laie firsthand, meet the teachers and students, explore the school environment, and see how these values come to life every day.
