Founded in 1996, Shanghai Community International School offers a rigorous international program to more than 1800 expatriate students whose families are resident in Shanghai. SCIS is licensed in China as a not-for-profit school governed by a self-perpetuating board of directors. The school is part of a group of schools overseen by the International School Foundation.

SCIS has three campuses: two on the west side and one on the east side of the Huangpu River in Shanghai. The SCIS mission is to provide all students with opportunities to pursue academic and personal excellence in nurturing, international community environments.
