| Teaching approach of the school |
The truly bilingual programme begins in Year 2 following the Foundation Stage, which is taught exclusively in English. Subjects are taught in both languages following a 60/40 ratio in the first two years of school with English being the dominant language. This changes to a 45/55 ratio in the last three years. In addition to the core subjects, OIS' art, music and physical education lessons are taught in Italian. The students’ progress is regularly assessed, including through formal standardized national tests from both countries, the results of which re-confirm the great advantages of bilingual education. |
