Parent
I had high hopes that BASIS Prague would be a safe and nurturing place for my child, but our time there was deeply disappointing. My son experienced ongoing bullying, and I later realized that many other parents had similar stories. He tried to resolve the situation verbally, but when that no longer worked and he defended himself, the school immediately labeled him as “aggressive” instead of looking into what actually happened.
A particularly alarming situation occurred when another student threatened my son with a knife during lunch. When I reported this to his teacher, the dean, and the principal, the response felt very dismissive. I was told that a teacher had taken the knife away in time and that “nothing happened” because my son wasn’t physically hurt. There was no proper investigation or deeper follow-up, which left me extremely uneasy.
The school also told me directly that they do not have a psychologist or trained staff who can deal with emotional or verbal bullying. Their approach is limited to handling physical incidents through disciplinary measures like suspensions, and emotional issues are not addressed in any structured or professional way.
Another major concern for us was the complete lack of an individual approach. Rather than trying to understand a child’s specific situation or needs, the priority seemed to be having children who stay quiet and don’t bring any issues to the surface. It often felt like the goal was to avoid complaints rather than support students’ well-being.
Overall, our experience at BASIS Prague was troubling, and I want to share it so other parents can make decisions with full awareness.
