Language support for students not fluent in English and French

For non-native speakers of English or French, CISP provides additional language support for all students in grades Kindergarten through 9 with intensive ESL (English as a Second Language) and FSL (French as a Second Language) programs.

Students applying for grades 10, 11 or 12 must demonstrate a functional level of academic English or French to complete the provincial exam requirements of the British Columbia provincially prescribed curriculum. All non-native speakers of English or French are required to write a language proficiency test during the application process.

Max. number of students per class

Class sizes vary from 10-20 students depending on the course subject. However, maximum class size for core academic courses is a 16:1 student-teacher ratio.

Dedicated staff/programs for students with special learning needs

CISP will make every effort to accommodate a student’s special learning needs. However, the programs are designed for students who can function in the mainstream classroom without extra support. CISP is not able to accommodate students with moderate or severe disabilities or students with significant conduct, communicative or emotional difficulties.

Learning support offered

Students who require one-on-one classroom support may be assigned a private special education specialist at an additional cost to the family. For more information on Learning Support Services at the ECB-CBS, please contact info@ecb-cbs.ca

Qualities and characteristics best defining the school

The Canadian International School of Paris delivers the British Columbia Ministry of Education provincially prescribed curriculum for students in preschool, primary, middle and secondary school.

Students learn in English and French, offering a truly bilingual and bi-cultural experience that will develop the language skills students need as 21st century learners.

Teaching approach of the school

CISP's approach is guided by the principles outlined in the British Columbia School Act, which affirms that the purpose of education is to help every learner develop their potential and contribute to a healthy, democratic, and inclusive society.

By removing barriers and fostering inclusion, CISP ensures that no student’s background, identity, or learning style limits their access to success — academically, socially, or personally.
