Facilities at the school |
A converted church accommodates our versatile performing arts centre with a glass atrium providing light and open spaces. This connects to the modern music school with its rehearsal and practice rooms and a fully-equipped music suite. The art studios harness natural light, and our design and technology and food technology work rooms add to our curricular and extra-curricular programme. There’s a well-stocked library and well-equipped science block with modern labs and interactive learning spaces. The school has recently completed a major building project at the centre of the site including the extended Sixth Form Centre and the new Cloisters Room and Library. As well as providing improved indoor and outdoor facilities and spaces, the project has allowed for better connections between existing buildings enabling students and staff to move more efficiently around the campus. |
Sports facilities at the school |
GAL's on-site sports centre includes a sports hall which is equipped and marked-out for cricket, football, fencing, badminton, basketball, netball, volleyball and hockey – plus a full-height climbing wall and professional sound system. There’s a dance studio, separate fully-equipped fitness studio, and a dual-aspect viewing gallery overlooking the sports hall and the outside astro pitches. These flood-lit pitches include hockey pitches – doubling up for rounders and athletics in the summer – adjacent to netball and tennis courts. Having all these facilities on-site means that they are a hive of activity before school, during breaks and lunchtime and after school. |
Qualities and characteristics best defining the school |
Godolphin and Latymer is a school for girls aged 11-18, where the academic and pastoral sides of school life go hand-in-hand and where students energetically pursue a huge range of extra-curricular activities, clubs and societies. In the Sixth Form GAL offers both the A Level and IB Diploma pathways and students head to leading universities in the UK and overseas. They leave Godolphin armed with important skills they will need in a fast-changing world, able to make a positive difference to the communities in which they will live and work. |
Teaching approach of the school |
GAL is a modern and forward-looking school with a strong heritage and ethos that shapes the character and heart of the school. GAL's values and shared vision remain strong and constant: providing access to quality teaching and learning is at the heart of what GAL does, alongside a real emphasis on the personal development of each and every girl. |
