Teaching approach of the school

PRESCHOOL
Children in preschool learn in a rich and stimulating environment which fuels enthusiasm for learning. Leveraging on the concept of Multiple Intelligences (MI), the main goal is to identify and acknowledge the different, inherent strengths and interests of each individual child; and teaching them based on these strengths.
The school's is a full programme that incorporates thematic learning along with international curriculum elements to prepare students for a continuous pathway into primary education. The curriculum begins with learning and exploration through play.
REAL's students are encouraged to tap on their natural curiosity to discover the world. In addition to mathematics, science and literacy; other areas such as character values, social and emotional skills are practiced and embedded into daily routine. As such, students flourish and gain confidence as they grow.

PRIMARY
Cambridge Primary (Year 1 – 6) is a purpose-built curriculum for children aged 5 – 11. The programme ensures that the core subjects of the UK National Curriculum like English, Mathematics and Science are taught to a level that enables smooth progress into Secondary education.
At this stage, the students develop a respect and love for learning, while acquiring a solid base of skills and knowledge. It is the school's intention to give this energetic age group a full and well-rounded programme in not just academic subjects, but also various interesting activities and educational field trips for them to actively explore.
Each student at Primary level is a member of a ‘homeroom’, a place where they develop strong relationships with dedicated teachers and their classmates. This contributes towards creating a sense of belonging and learning within a community.

SECONDARY
At Secondary level, REAL strives to create a culture where curiosity is nurtured and student success is driven by a sense of genuine engagement with learning. It is also important that our students develop a sense of humility through exposure to a diversity of real-life experiences; leading them to want to make a difference by thinking critically and acting creatively.
Cambridge Secondary 1 (Year 7 – 9) is designed for students aged approximately 11 - 14 years old. It builds on the Primary curriculum, and develops students’ knowledge and understanding in Mathematics, English and Science. At the end of Year 9 (Key Stage 3), students can sit for the Cambridge Checkpoint Test before progressing into the IGCSE programme.
Cambridge Secondary 2 (Year 10 & 11) is typically for students aged 14 – 16 years old. REAL offers students the Cambridge IGCSE, which provides a broad and balanced field of study using learner-centred and enquiry-based approaches to learning.
Students who obtain an IGCSE qualification are set for future academic success, including progression to A-Levels or IB studies, and are equipped with the skills needed for either immediate employment or further studies.
