Students at The British International School Abu Dhabi are now benefiting from the addition of LAMDA Acting Examinations to the school’s co-curricular programme. These prestigious exams, offered by the London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art, help learners develop public speaking skills, creative expression, and self-confidence—while also contributing to their academic profiles.

Last year marked the school’s first round of LAMDA exams, with students from Year 6 to Year 12 participating. Despite being new to formal performance assessments, many students achieved Distinctions, with standout scores reaching 98%.

The programme spans multiple levels:

  • Lower grades (1–5) focus on speech delivery and understanding performance techniques.
  • Intermediate level (Grade 6) introduces historical and contemporary texts, encouraging deeper character analysis.
  • Advanced level (Grade 7) includes classical works and demands critical thinking about playwrights’ intentions and dramatic styles.
Among the high achievers were Serafina (Grade 7), Eloise and Lily (Grade 6), and several younger students including Freddie, Ekaterina, Gabriell, and Ahaan. Students who completed higher-level exams earned UCAS points, providing a valuable edge in university admissions.

To celebrate their success, Headteacher Mrs. Aine McGlue awarded each participant a Commendation for their courage and commitment.

LAMDA’s integration into the school’s enrichment programme aligns with BIS Abu Dhabi’s focus on holistic development. By engaging in drama, students gain transferable skills that support academic success and personal growth, preparing them for leadership, collaboration, and future careers.
