Malvern College Tokyo is a preeminent British-style IB World School in Tokyo, accredited for the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Middle Years Programme (MYP), with the Diploma Programme (DP) accreditation underway. The school is committed to offering high-quality IB programmes to both primary and secondary pupils, catering to pupils ages 4 to 16, eventually to age 18 with the DP.

Malvern College Tokyo follows the example of Malvern College UK and Malvern College Hong Kong by offering an International Baccalaureate curriculum, one which will give pupils opportunities to continue their studies at a wide variety of universities around the world. We believe an internationally accepted programme will not only meet the needs of our culturally diverse pupil body but will also provide a significant opportunity to recognise education as both global in content and outlook, and also emphasise the interconnectedness of knowledge.

Entry evaluation for students	Admissions Assessment and Interview
Brief description of entry evaluation required	All applicants are required to go through an assessment, which differs by grade level. For Pre-Prep to Prep 3, we invite children for an observation session with our teachers while parents have an interview with our Head of Primary. Prep 4 and above children are invited first for a computer-based test along with a short writing task, they are then invited back another day with their parents, where they have separate parent and child interviews. All interviews are conducted in English, but we offer Japanese support when needed.

Primary Years Programme | Ages 4 to 11

Very young learners need to be stimulated, and to collaborate and interact with their peers and teachers and to make effective use of the curriculum. Our Primary Years programme is a holistic learning experience that integrates socio-emotional, physical, and cognitive development. In the Primary classroom, learning takes place in a dynamic environment that promotes play, discovery, and exploration.

Our Primary Years Programme is an inquiry-based, transdisciplinary curriculum focusing on the development of the whole child. It addresses pupils’ academic, social and emotional wellbeing and encourages pupils to develop independence and accountability for their own learning. Pupils make connections between local and global issues in a real-world context and establish personal values as a foundation for international-mindedness.

Middle Years Programme | Ages 11 to 16

Our Middle Years Programme empowers our pupils to become independent learners. Young people need confidence, resilience and initiative to flourish in today’s modern world. The programme provides an excellent foundation for developing these characteristics and supports pupils in becoming critical thinkers, with strong intercultural understanding and outstanding communication skills.

We have plans to expand into the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP).

Malvern College Tokyo is strategically located in Kodaira, just 40 minutes from central Tokyo. Situated in a distinguished academic area, our campus sits within a 5-kilometer radius of over 50 educational institutions, ranging from elementary schools to prestigious universities, including Hitotsubashi University and Tsuda University.

Spanning 15,577m², our campus features a four-storey main building. Our state-of-the-art facilities include classrooms for core subjects and specialities such as science, STEAM & Design, expressive arts, music, visual arts, alongside a gymnasium, a pitch, a library, a dining hall, and Sakura Garden. Together, these outstanding facilities enable us to deliver an exceptional, well-rounded education that nurtures each child's unique talents, ignites their passions, and prepares them for future success.

Pre-Prep Programme | Ages 4 to 5

Malvern College Tokyo's Pre-Prep Programme is not just a place of learning; it is a vibrant community that values the growth of the whole child academically, socially, emotionally, and ethically. We have carefully designed our programme that will cater to your child's unique interests and needs. We ask parents to tell us about their child's character, their hopes and aspirations and their favourite toys and activities. Together, we will tailor our programme to meet each child's individual needs.

Children learn through play. Play allows them to develop their imagination and dexterity as well as their physical, cognitive and emotional skills. Play is paramount for healthy brain development. It is through play that children engage and interact with the world around them and learn important social and communication skills.
