Learning support offered

The Learning Support Program offers support in content classes, remedial work, pull-out classes, small group work, one-on-one instruction. We have inclusion in general education classes, support classes to work with individual student needs, and specific reading and writing program with direct instruction. We offer non-significant accommodations for any student with a diagnosed disability.

The school supports gifted, able and talented students

AIS incorporates general education classes, as well as honors classes for students performing at a higher academic level. We offer Advanced Placement classes. AIS offers an Enrichment Program to upper elementary students that require academic challenges.

Student access to education psychologist

Our guidance counselor will provide emotional support when a student is in crisis and will work with prevention programs through life skills classes and will assist parents and teachers in important meetings. The Learning Support Program at our school will deal with our students learning needs. The LSP teachers design and deliver lessons geared towards the individual needs and capabilities of the students under their supervision.

An entrance examination will be administered to all applicants.

Brief description of entry evaluation required

Applicants will be administered a computerized exam in English and in Math and a writing sample. Preschool, Prekindergarten and some elementary students must spend a morning or two with the class.

The school´s cafeteria will offer a wide variety of food to all students for breakfast, break, lunch and after school. All students are welcome to bring their own lunch and snacks to school every day if they choose not to use the school cafeteria. AIS offers a variety of after school activities such as soccer, karate, volleyball, tennis, gymnastics, percussion, basketball, ballet, choir, Business kids, "catecismo" and cross country among other after school activities that may be offered on a semester basis.

Elementary students will have two physical education classes per week, while middle school and high school students may have between three or five physical education classes per week.
