For students ages 3 to 18, BHS is a one-of-a-kind international American School in Barcelona Spain with a mission to solve the failures of traditional education so all students in the post-Covid era not only excel academically, to attend the world's top universities if desired, but also to excel socially and psychologically as well in equal measure in order to truly find their superpower.
Barcelona High School (BHS) was founded in 2020 by American entrepreneur, Harvard graduate and Barcelona resident, Akida Mashaka, who wanted a better education model for his teenage son after Covid. As such, BHS is the first Social Wellness School in the world.
BHS initially started as only an American high school, hence its name, and then added a STEAM based middle school in 2023.
Now in 2025, BHS has opened a bilingual (English and Spanish immersive) elementary school and Montessori based preschool to fully serve as the #1 international school in Barcelona for creating global citizens of the world and to revolutionize education as we know it.

Academics
The academics consist of accredited US curriculum courses taught in native English. AP courses are also available if students want courses equivalent to International Baccalaureate (IB) or A levels, although they are not mandatory.
Academic learning is supplemented with social and creative activities, group projects, international speakers, tech learning, and much more to help students increase their emotional intelligence while simultaneously expanding their opportunities and finding their passions in life.
Students receive an official American High School Diploma from USA when they complete 12th grade, which allows them to attend English speaking international universities throughout the world, including in Spain, the UK and throughout Europe, as well as in USA or Canada.
