At ISHCMC we have proudly been offering the three programs of the International Baccalaureate (IB) for many years. As well as being accredited as an IB World School, ISHCMC is also accredited by the Council of International School allowing ISHCMC students a safe and healthy environment to learn and a smooth transition to universities and colleges around the world.
As the first and most established International School in Ho Chi Minh City, we have developed our IB programs to form a minimum foundation for preparing our students for the challenges posed by the 21st century.
Preparing students for the uncertainties of our future world is an unpredictable challenge that schools have not faced before but one that ISHCMC embraces as it encourages the growth and development of the skills that will allow them to achieve their goals and have a long and happy life. Learning and individual student growth in a safe and caring environment is at the centre of all that we do as a school.
We look forward to you joining the ISHCMC community.

Qualities and characteristics best defining the school
|
As an IB World School, ISHCMC constructs a Culture of Achievement in an environment where students are Energized, Engaged and Empowered to become active participants in their communities.
Our goal is to educate students to construct an understanding of knowledge and of their world through carefully developed learning and social skills.
Our vision is to be widely recognized as a school that nurtures a creative and collaborative learning environment where students and teachers seek to achieve beyond their goals, flourish as individuals, display compassion, embrace challenge, take principled action on local and global issues and enjoy being part of their community.
|
Teaching approach of the school
|
At ISHCMC learning is seen as an active, constructive process arising from observation and scientific study about how people learn best. The student as the learner is encouraged to be an information constructor, actively creating their own understanding and knowledge of the world, through experiencing things and reflecting on those experiences. This means that there is a shift in the focus of teaching from knowledge as a product to knowing as a process. Teachers are trained to recognize the importance of prior knowledge in students’ learning, understanding that students are not blank slates or empty vessels waiting to be filled with knowledge. Instead, students are seen as bringing with them a rich array of prior experiences, knowledge, and beliefs that they use in constructing new understandings. This approach engages and empowers the learner by valuing the part they play in creating meaning and participating actively in their learning rather than being a passive recipient of information.

Campuses
Our two campuses are carefully designed to provide a safe and secure 21st century learning environment, complete with the latest security and clean air systems. Our facilities allow students of both primary and secondary age to flourish with modern learning and collaboration areas, numerous covered and uncovered sports facilities, technologically advanced classrooms, student study areas, a brand new 350-seat theater with professional lighting and sound equipment, etc.
Technology
At the International School Ho Chi Minh City (ISHCMC) we use technology in all areas of the education process. Our teachers integrate technology into the curriculum whenever it is useful and adds value in the classroom. From our Early Years through to our High School students. ISHCMC students use a broad range of devices and applications such as the Google Education Suit to collaborate, communicate and create.
Sports
At International School Ho Chi Minh City (ISHCMC) we believe that students should be balanced. Participating in sports gives children the outlet they need to develop physically and teaches them important life lessons about teamwork, perseverance, risk-taking, ethics and sportsmanship. Our sports teams are recognized within Vietnam and abroad for their integrity, ability and sense of fair play. We have built programs that allow many children to complete whether they are experienced or beginners.
The Arts
The arts program at ISHCMC plays an important part in both our curriculum and student life. All students create artwork for our school-wide exhibition and there are opportunities for students to join our choir, bands, orchestra or participate in school productions. Our arts program allows students to develop their creativity and follow their passions while also building their confidence and maturity in preparation for higher learning and a richer, fuller life.
