Mr. Dominic Abbott
Executive Head
Coruña British International School is a private, secular, independent school in A Coruña. We follow the English National Curriculum while meeting all Spanish schooling requirements. The education we offer our students is high quality and individualised, with dedicated attention for each student. We aim to develop each child’s full academic and personal potential and encourage our students to be curious, creative, self-disciplined and independent.
Our school currently offers classes from Early Years up to Year 10. We are progressively adding a new cohort each year until we offer the full range of schooling, from ages three to 18.
We are proud to teach the English National Curriculum at Coruña British International School. Educational excellence is at the heart of the British system and this philosophy extends beyond purely academic achievement.
The English National Curriculum encourages students to see the world around them from a different perspective, to form their own opinions, and to express themselves thoughtfully, respectfully and intelligently. Problem solving, working effectively as part of a group or independently, and learning how to approach their studies with a critical, open and creative mind are all skills that form part of our students’ daily educational experience, and are skills that we believe they will carry forward into the workplace in later life.
We have organised the information available for this school into 10 sections and 41 questions. Click or tap on the name of each section to read more.

Early Years and Primary | Ages 3-11
The Early Years stage corresponds to the infant education stage in the Spanish system and is a key developmental stage, forming the foundation of your child’s educational journey. In the English National Curriculum we focus on linguistic immersion in English, plus artistic and musical activities, emotional intelligence and creative play.
During primary school we focus on providing children with a secure foundation in literacy and numeracy, in addition to working on personal and social skills.
Children learn in a positive and stimulating environment and are taught how to work effectively in teams and groups, learn how to study on their own, how to listen and concentrate, solve problems, make decisions, take initiative and learn about responsibility and cooperation.
Secondary and Sixth Form | 12 to 18 year olds
At secondary school students begin to acquire and develop the critical, analytical and rational thinking skills that enable them to achieve their academic goals and become responsible and proactive members of society.
Having completed secondary school with IGCSEs at 16 years old, students will be able to continue their education in Sixth Form, also known as post-16 education.
This is an optional stage, equivalent to the Spanish Bachillerato. Whatever future path our students decide to take, our objective is to prepare them to confidently and successfully embrace the challenges that lie ahead of them.
Students at Coruña British International School will get the opportunity to choose from a wide range of subject options on offer at A-Level, and which will prepare students for entry to both top Spanish and international universities.
Facilities
Coruña British International School has specially designed spaces which include covered patios for play, a dance/drama studio, workshop, greenhouse, sport facilities and even a duck pond!
