Use of technology in the classroom

1:1 iPads for all pupils from Year 1 to Year 6 in addition to a bank of iPads available for our Foundation Stage pupils. 1:1 MacBooks for Secondary students. The use of iPads can also encourage pupils, boost confidence and provide a valuable feedback loop outside of a traditional classroom setting. Pupils will be able to better develop their 21st Century learning skills including opportunities for authentic collaboration and teamwork, innovation, creating, and publishing in ways never possible before. Traditional skills are still taught and paper-based approaches are combined alongside this increase in technology.

Is the school ready to use virtual classrooms when needed? (e.g. teaching lessons online if the school is closed, e.g. during COVID-19 closures)

By having a solid digital provision in place from the beginning, the school team has quickly established a comprehensive network that facilitates communication, allows pupils to gain access to a continually growing bank of educational content, and enables teachers to deliver a more personalized approach to meet the needs of each student.

Do teachers assign homework to their students?

In Primary School, after a full day school, we believe that it is important that
children have time after school to explore other interests. We therefore take a moderate approach towards homework. In Secondary School, students are set homework suitable for their year group. This builds in challenge and length each year but is not normally excessive.
Homework is an essential part of the curriculum, as it develops our students’ independent working skills whilst embedding and stretching key learning.
