In order to get to know and assess your child, BMS invites a group of 8-10 children registered for the Early Learning Center (age 3 to age 5) or grade 1 to attend a play-date between November and April of the year before entry. Students applying to school are invited to attend a trial day at BMS, during which they are allocated to a specific homeroom in Primary or house and tutor group in Secondary School. In both cases they are well looked after by a volunteer “buddy”. Students applying to grades 5-12 are required to sit an entrance test in English and Math.

About the school

Qualities and characteristics best defining the school

The Berlin Metropolitan School is an all-day school, allowing students from kindergarten through 12th grade to complete a modern and values-based education, culminating into an internationally recognized diploma. BMS offers an education that includes both local and international standards and one in which an inspiring, open and welcoming place of learning can unfold. BMS promotes a culture of openness, respect, joy of learning, and cooperation.

Teaching approach of the school

The school's philosophy is as simple as it is challenging: Inspire each other – grow together. BMS sees itself as a partner for its students and their families, who learn from each other in an atmosphere of trust and respect, who spur each other on, and motivate one another with the common goal of further development. The sharing of common values and a high level of ambition, the merging of different cultures, and the collective concern for the welfare of our students, form the basis of the school’s philosophy.
