There are seven computer labs at SMIC. Each lab includes 30 PC computers, one laser printer and an LCD projector. Color printers and photo/document scanners are also shared among the computer labs. There are IPADs, computers and LCD projector in each classroom. Broadcast room is used for distance education, recording courses or school TV station. AI lab features robotics equipment, 3D printers and computer systems for students to design, create and program automated machines. Design techonolgy labe houses a variety of hand tools and power tools for mechanical construction projects.

Qualities and characteristics best defining the school

Shanghai SMIC Private School is a K-12 school established in 2001 by Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (SMIC). Our school has a teaching staff of nearly 400 serving over 3300 students in grades K-12 in both International and Chinese diploma programs. SMIC-International Division (SMIC-I) students are foreign passport holders or have permanent residency status from other countries. The majority of SMIC-I’s teaching staff are foreigners, with over half being Americans, and about a third being Chinese. SMIC-I has a K-12 staff of 218, with about 55% being foreigners. SMIC-I offers a full program of instruction for students in kindergarten, elementary (grades 1 to 5), middle school (grades 6-8), and high school (grades 9-12). SMIC-I is accredited by the US agency, Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), and also has memberships in the East Asia Regional Conference of Schools (EARCOS), and the Overseas Association for College Admissions Counseling (OACAC). We provide a diverse high school AP program and a unique Chinese language program that has fantastic student achievement results. SMIC-I is also a member of the College Board and is a test center for SAT and ACT.
