Exupery International School is a vibrant and rapidly growing learning community where students feel happy, safe and at home. For our boarders, school is actually a home from home – and it is amazing for them to be part of a school that is alive 24/7.
It is truly exciting to feel the buzz of teaching and learning, see the smiles of students and teachers, and hear different languages every day. Our fantastic purpose-built facility is the perfect setting for our rigorous PYP, IBDP, and IGCSE academic programs, all of which promote an international outlook, critical thinking, metacognition, and creativity.
Our language of instruction is English, but we also have robust mother tongue programs for local languages, and provide opportunities for the acquisition of at least one more additional language. Primary School | Ages 6 to 11
The curriculum framework in Grades 1-5 is the IB Primary Years Program (PYP). It aims to develop young students as caring, active participants in a lifelong learning journey. The program is famous for its inquirybased and transdisciplinary approach. It challenges students to think for themselves and take responsibility for their learning, as they explore local and global issues and opportunities in real-life contexts.
Students acquire core subjects of English, Maths, and Science, Social Studies during their homeroom classes. Various special classes like the mother tongue, a second language, physical education, the arts, and technology are taught by specialist teachers in separate classes. All of the subjects are linked using large interdisciplinary units which are part of the school-wide Program of Inquiry – the hallmark of the PYP program.
Middle School | Ages 11 to 16
In Middle school we are using the Cambridge IGCSE curricular framework. IGCSE is the world’s most popular international qualification for 14–16-year-olds, taken in more than 160 countries. It encourages learner-centered and enquiry-based approaches to learning while standing out as an academically rigorous, well-structured and very well-resourced program.
With clearly-defined learning outcomes and content, it is designed to be compatible with other curricula, to be internationally relevant and sensitive to different needs and cultures. High School | Ages 16 to 18
The curricular framework at EIS High School is the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB DP). It was established to provide students with a balanced education, facilitate geographic and cultural mobility, and foster international mindedness. It is famous for its academically rigorous exams and its focus on student action, research and skill development.
Our Campus
The Exupery International School campus consists of three buildings located on 2.5 hectares of land, offering a total indoor area of more than 12,000 square meters. The campus includes dedicated classrooms and labs for Preschool, Primary, Middle, and High School, as well as a gym, a recording studio, two libraries, two cafeterias, three multi-purpose assembly halls, and a boarding house.
Exupery International School is located in the green suburb of Riga, Latvia’s capital. The school is only 20 minutes away from the historic Riga Old Town, 15 minutes from the seaside resort town of Jurmala, and 15 minutes from Riga International Airport.
Boarding
At EIS we offer a range of boarding options for students from 14 years of age including full-time, weekly, or daily boarding.
We have made our school and the boarding house a true "home away from home". Our family-style atmosphere allows boarders to settle in quickly as we pursue an intricate and carefully designed balance between academic rigour and well-being, following directions and engaging in democratic decision-making, purposeful effort and fun.
