CHIST is an English-medium, Buddhist-based school with a Global Standard Curriculum blending the best of international pedagogy with selected elements from the Japanese national curriculum. From grades one through twelve (with the later grades to open in the coming years), CHIST students and teachers work to build the skills and dispositions necessary to co-create peace and happiness.

Teaching approach of the school

We encourage out students to value and investigate their own questions, and to take ever greater ownership of their own learning. Elementary homeroom teachers take a cross-disciplinary approach to the exploration of concepts. Middle school students explore eight curricular areas: Mathematics, English, Japanese, Science, History and Geography, Design, the Arts (fine art, music, and drama), and Physical Education and Health. Our high school program will culminate in an elite diploma program qualifying students to apply to the best universities in the world.
