Use of technology in the classroom

Use of technology for learning is an integral part to learning in SIM International Academy. The school has a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) programme and students are taught how to harness technology for learning.
Students will start Years 7 and 8 with the introduction of ICT tools which will enable them to perform data collection and analysis, communication and information search. Students’ ICT skills will be put into practice and enhanced through ICT-facilitated lessons in the different subjects of their study.
As they progress to Years 9 and 10, students will learn how to leverage the affordances of the ICT tools for collaborative and self-directed learning. The students will be involved in project-based and problem-based learning where ICT will be an integrative part in the ideation and implementation of their project.

All applicants must provide academic reports from the last three years.
For our IGCSE classes, there is an Entrance Exam includes an English test, a Mathematics test and a 15-minute interview with a teacher or senior staff.
For our International A Level classes, do refer to our website for the latest qualifying certification requirement.

Admitted students are recommended to board wherever possible in order to experience the full range of programmes offered by SIM International Academy.The Boarding Programme offers students the unique experience of interdisciplinary learning through living and studying within a community. Designed to complement the formal school curriculum, the educational support programmes, social and sporting activities offered through the boarding curriculum help our boarders acquire life skills and develop self-discipline and independence.

Qualities and characteristics best defining the school

Students at SIM International Academy can expect a rigorous, inquiry-based academic programme designed and taught by faculty with extensive experience in local and international curricula. The faculty has also designed co-curricular, service-learning and boarding programmes to complement the academic programme.

Boarding facilities and a dedicated boarding programme will be offered to all students, especially those who are joining us from overseas. Students from the region who require additional help in the English language will receive ample support. SIM International Academy will prepare students for success in tertiary education, with SIM’s partner universities or other international universities, as well as engagement with and contribution to regional communities.

Teaching approach of the school

SIM International Academy offers a 4-year IGCSE curriculum that engenders inquiry, communication and an enterprise mindset. Designed to focus on applied learning in STEM (Science, Technology,Engineering and Mathematics) and the Social Sciences, our learners will be exposed to authentic scenarios to deepen their understanding and appreciation of these academic disciplines in an applied context. Upon successful completion of the IGCSE, our students will be able to continue their academic journey towards a Cambridge A Level certificate in Years 11 and 12 or an SIM Diploma (leading to an undergraduate programme with one of SIM’s partner universities).
