HSL applies ICT in:
• Processing content with multiple intelligences: HSL works with the development of the eight different intelligences with specific reference to individual learning styles. Content is delivered through Digital SMART boards, Apple iLife, Open Source software and the Electronic Learning Environment
• The Digital Learning Line: the Digital Learning Line helps HSL adjust the learning level and the work pace of individual children. This way HSL can monitor and support the development of each child.
• The Electronic Learning Environment: in ELE the children do research, communicate and play in a safe environment. Students can also access their digital student folder.

Approximate hours of homework given

Homework will be assigned as soon as students have begun reading and writing. The amount and type of assignment will gradually increase from Group 3 onwards and will also be regulated by the proficiency level of each student as a key tenet of differentiated instruction is to ensure that each student is being challenged appropriately.

Learning support offered

The Special Educational Needs coordinator (or SEN coordinator) manages the school’s Learning Support Center (LSC). She monitors the children’s progress and the ongoing quality of the curriculum in consultation with teachers and management. The SEN coordinator is the main contact for support questions from teachers and parents and manages all additional learning support as required. The Learning Support Center also employs remedial teachers and a speech therapist.

PE lessons are taught by two specialist teachers who focus on coordination, technique, motor and game skills. HSL PE program is a key part of the school's aim to promote the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. In consultation with various coordinators, IPC and SCL are also incorporated into PE lessons. HSL carefully monitors their students’ athletic progress.
