Qualities and characteristics best defining the school

Kumon Leysin Academy of Switzerland (KLAS) is a private, Japanese, coeducational boarding high school in the Alpine ski resort, Leysin, Switzerland. KLAS was founded in 1990 by Toru Kumon, the founder of Kumon method, to provide students with a bilingual education in English and Japanese, an understanding, awareness and appreciation of world history and cultures, and to instil in students a sense of independence and maturity that will support them as they pursue further education internationally after KLAS.
KLAS is accredited by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) enabling its graduates to be eligible for acceptance into Japanese, as well as non-Japanese, universities.

Teaching approach of the school

KLAS provides a strong university preparatory education in a school community in which each student achieves moral and intellectual growth, competence in academic and extra-curricular areas, an appreciation of creativity and artistic expression, and an understanding of people of other traditions and cultures.
