All non-native English-speaking applicants seeking entry into Primary 1 and above will be tested on their English language. These tests are taking after admission and are only to determine the level of EAL support in class.

Learning Support Department

Learning support offered

The aim of the learning support department is to support all students within the NIS in achieving access to the curriculum. The support department strives to enable all students to reach their full potential and experience feelings of success and achievement.
The learning support specialist coordinates and stimulates support within the classes. This is done through an effective school based program, following a best practice approach. A detailed framework can be found in the school’s support plan. The LSS incorporates both learning support and socio-emotional support
programs working from prevention to intervention and a whole school view.

Teaching approach of the school

NIS offers both a Dutch and English speaking preschool and elementary school. The school's program in the Dutch stream is fully compliant with the Dutch education system and the program in the English stream follows the celebrated Cambridge curriculum.
