Qualities and characteristics best defining the school

American Academy for Girls is a private, college-preparatory day school for girls, offering the American Common Core curriculum to Grades 1 to Grade 12. The school's Kindergarten is co-educational, accepting boys and girls aged 3 to 5.

The priority at American Academy is to educate girls and young women to the highest quality academic and personal standards essential for responsible, effective lives and for the successful pursuit of higher education upon graduation.

Teaching approach of the school

Embedded in the Common Core curriculum are opportunities for students to develop socially, emotionally and academically. AAG is committed to recognizing and addressing each student’s strengths and needs, from the time they enter the school to their graduation. In an all-girls’ environment, students focus on developing their individual voice, perspectives and opinions. During these formative years, their views of what constitutes a well-educated and well-balanced young woman are free of the influences often present in a co-educational school. The students are empowered to apply their new knowledge and views in a safe and nurturing environment.
