Qualities and characteristics best defining the school

The Ecole Française Internationale de Bruxelles (EFI Brussels) is a French school from kindergarten to high school belonging to the Odyssey school network.
Opening its doors in September 2019 with the support of the French Embassy, EFI Brussels is a bilingual school (French and English) offering education in accordance with the French National Education programs.

EFI Brussels' educational model combines French academic excellence with the dynamism of Anglo-Saxon schools. This "best of both worlds" alliance is supported by a French and international educational team rigorously selected to implement a unique educational project in Brussels where students of all nationalities will be supported on the road to success.

For this first year, EFI Brussels is welcoming students from the Petite Section de Maternelle (3 years old) to CM1 (9 years old). Following the pedagogical rise, the secondary school and the high school will open and the students will obtain French state diplomas (brevet and baccalauréat) as well as international language certifications.

EFI Brussels also offers an English-speaking elementary school section (Primary School) for pupils aged 6 to 10 (Grade 1 - Grade 5) who wish to study the IB curriculum of our partner, the Bogaerts International School. This section applies the IB Primary Years Program and includes instruction mainly in English (70% of school time).
EFI Brussels is located at Domaine de Latour de Freins (rue Engeland 555 - Uccle), a stunning green setting offering maximum comfort, accessibility, well-being and safety for students.

Teaching approach of the school

A French school focused on academic excellence
From kindergarten to high school, the French section's teaching strictly respects the French National Education curriculum. Regardless of their nationality, students receive personalised support and follow a school curriculum that will lead them to the French baccalaureate and then to the best universities in the world.

Bilingual education from kindergarten onwards
From kindergarten onwards, students learn English but also in English. This means that after a complete education, students will have the ability to express themselves in both languages, both orally and in writing. English represents 50% of the teaching time in kindergarten, 30% of elementary time in high school in the French section and 70% in the English primary school.

Students are also offered the option of learning Dutch, and from secondary school onwards, learning other languages (Spanish, Chinese, German, etc.). To achieve this, the school applies a pedagogical program based on immersion, progressiveness, personalization and active pedagogies. In addition, all language teachers are native speakers and have a teaching diploma.

An international openness that promotes understanding of the world
The educational project is geared towards international openness and the development of intercultural exchange, which is reflected in many concrete actions: a cosmopolitan community, cooperation and exchanges with schools abroad, particularly the Odyssey school network.
Open to pupils of all nationalities, EFI Brussels is able to welcome non-French-speaking or non-English-speaking pupils in nursery or elementary school. To achieve this integration, the school has set up a "Passerelle" system allowing rapid learning of French and harmonious integration into our curriculum, as well as skill groups for learning English.

A modern and well meaning pedagogy
The school applies a positive and active pedagogy, based on cognitive sciences, which strengthens students' confidence and facilitates the acquisition of 21st century skills (communication, creativity, mastery of new technologies, etc.). The pedagogical team gives priority to the personal development and success of each student.
