Princess Margaret School is a fraud. We placed our child for one year at significant cost (matricula, uniform, computer), and removed them the next Fall as they (and us!) were so unhappy in the environment. Even on the first day of school, all the new kids (including mine) and parents wandered around looking for someone to welcome us. No one helped guide us to the classroom or to the appropriate teacher. It was utter chaos from the first day, which never ended - Never guidance on schedules, on meal service, or how to communicate internally. The Director is happy to swoon you, mislead you and boast about all the school has to offer - which is in reality a school he inherited from his mum. It is far below the IB standard (as confirmed from other's school's entrance exams). They sold us that they were an English-speaking IB school. In fact, it is a small, disorganized, local Catalan school that is barely integrating IB especially in the upper grades. Worst of all, the English teachers are local Catalan speakers with terrible accents and poorly written English. It's astonishing how badly the children speak English after years in a so-called trilingual school. Socially, the children lack basic respect for teachers, and there is no control over them. The school is very small (too small), one class per grade, but kids manage even to smoke in the bathroom next to the classrooms! Bullying is common, especially for new kids. If you are looking for an English-speaking international school, this is not the school for you.

At Princess Margaret International School, feedback is very positive to keep growing as a school. We take into account all the opinions to move forward and consider next steps for improving. Princess Margaret International School belongs to the International Baccalaureate World Organisation (IB), which sets very high standards that are supervised and need to be met yearly. Our school has excelled all the criteria, being the first school in Barcelona city to gain the IB certification o PYP and MYP programmes. Alongside with this, we integrate the statutory National Curriculum which is regulated and inspected by the governmental authority Generalitat de Catalunya, including the official demands and qualifications to employ teachers set by the governmental law.

As mentioned on our website, the school supports multilingualism and integrates three main languages: In P3 and P4 English is set 100%, P5 is taught 55% in English and we introduce Catalan 25% and Spanish 20%. In Primary and Secondary Catalan and Spanish are equally taught (25%/25%), keeping English as a 50% in every year group. We are a global community and we welcome every single nationality. We currently have 70% of local families and a 30% of international families, and 32 nationalities. Our teachers are experienced professionals with the required qualification, always committed to the student’s diversity.

Regarding our organization, we really appreciate your feedback and therefore we organized a "Welcome day" for new families prior to the start of the year. We hope this helps new families to feel more comfortable on the very first day of school. We apologies if you didn’t feel that was the case for you. Our school is available for any calls straight to the head teacher during the day and after arranging, the headteacher always assists families in his office for any kind of issues.

We are very sorry if we didn’t meet your expectations, we will take your suggestions into consideration and hope to be of any help in the future.

I can only give good references to Princess Margaret School. The level of English acquired by the children is impressive, as well as the educational project in line with the IB philosophy which focuses on the autonomy of the pupil and on instilling values which I consider basic for my children such as integrity and solidarity among others. In addition, the family-like treatment of all the school staff with the students is exquisite. I recommend it 100%!
