Qualities and characteristics best defining the school

The International School of Catalunya (ISCAT), founded in 2007 in La Garriga, Barcelona, is an accredited British International School offering the National Curriculum of England and Wales from Nursery through to Year 13.

Learning at ISCAT, following the British Curriculum with IGCSE at the end of Year 11, and A Levels in Year 13, opens a world of opportunities to study across the UK, Europe and the rest of the world. Integrity, respect and responsibility are the cornerstones on which our students build a future as tolerant, open-minded world citizens and independent thinkers.

Teaching approach of the school

SMALL GROUPS
We believe that students learn best in smaller groups. Optimizing teacher-student relationships, bonds with fellow students and personalised learning are at the heart of what we do.

TEACHING VALUES
We aim to create independent learners and thinkers within a safe and supportive environment where every student can thrive and develop positive academic, life and interpersonal skills.

AUTHENTIC LEARNING
As a pioneer school in Spain with our Forest School programme, and as an accredited UNICEF Rights Respecting School (Gold Award), we offer unparalleled authentic learning opportunities for all our age groups.
Learning to learn, learning to be, learning to think. At the International School of Catalunya (ISCAT), the personal growth of each student is at the heart of our educational programme. Our students prepare for the future through academic challenge and stimulation.
No two children are born alike, and so we respect and recognise the different needs, interests and strengths of every student. Our students are encouraged intellectually, socially and emotionally to achieve their full academic and personal potential.
We fully believe that when the delicate balance between academic endeavor and emotional wellbeing is achieved, our students are most open to the entire learning experience. At ISCAT, we nurture the spirit of each and every one so that, armed with self-knowledge, a belief in themselves, and a solid academic record, they face the world fully prepared to shoulder responsibilities and give of their best.
