Qualities and characteristics best defining the school

Small size, family friendly school with high academic rigour and excellent teaching.
A very caring community with close pastoral care and a real focus on ensuring children are happy, challenged and achieve their potential.
The size of our school is an advantage to students as they enjoy a warm and friendly environment in a school which has all the hallmarks, standards policies and procedures of a large British independent school. The school caters for children from 18 months to 18 years and by the time students leave they are well educated and are well rounded individuals who are caring, courteous, generous and confident young adults.

Teaching approach of the school

RBIS believes in learning through play in the Early Years Foundation Stage. In Primary and Secondary active, enquiry based learning with cooperative learning and group work being the norm. We make good use of assessment data to ensure progression and intervene if individuals stray from their targets. Lessons are lively, fun and challenging with excellent mutually respectful relationships between staff and students. Excellent use of ICT is used to allow students any-place/any-time access to learning materials and support which encourages independence of learning.
There is an emphasis on learning to learn and understanding how to make progress and enjoy learning.
